AUGUST!? WHERE HAS THIS YEAR GONE? We at SAINT HQ still can’t believe that we are eight months into the year and that Christmas is nearly four months away!
A lot has went on over the past three months and we have a cheeky confession to make … this website was actually a univeristy dissertation project and we are now pleased to announce that we are going to be running this website 24/7!
We had so many lovely comments on this page and throughout our social media and thought, why not bring SAINT back from the dead? So here we are (as Elliot Minor would say) we really hope that you all enjoy what we post from now on. It is going to be a little different to the way the website was ran. A lot of the website is going to be music based such as gigs, album reviews and playlists but we are still going to keep the fashion and lifestyle news-y parts in too.
SOOOOOO WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TOO!? CHECK OUT BELOW TO FIND OUT WHAT WE HAVE BEEN UP TO OVER THE LAST THREE MONTHS.
SLAMDUNK FESTIVAL 2017 (NORTH)
28 May, 2017
SLAMDUNK was celebrating its 11th festival this year and what a day it was. The NORTH festival, based in Leeds city centre was just a couple of hours away from SAINT HQ and for £50 (inc afterparty) you couldn’t go wrong.
With acts from Neck Deep, The Maine, WSTR and our all time favourite Don Broco the day was just incredible and to top it off, the weather was amaaaaazzzzzing. Beer + sun + music = the perfect combonation.
We went along to get drunk and enjoy some of our favourite bands.
BLINK-182 @ NEWCASTLE METRO RADIO ARENA
Our Editor, Louise went along to the event to live her childhood dream of seeing Blink-182 live. (Bonus that Frank Turner was supporting too!)
Having grown up with the music of Blink-182 from my older siblings, I was rather excited when they announced a tour of the UK and one of the cities was Newcastle.
My friends and I went early purely so I can see Frank Turner perform (Frank Turner is bae) Before Frank came on, another support band called The Front Bottoms took to the stage first and if I’m quite honest, they weren’t quite to my taste but they did seem to get the crowd going.
FRANK TURNER HOWEVER, OH MY GOD HE WAS AMAZING! The crowd went wild while he sung tracks such as Recovery and If Ever I Stray and he really knew how to entertain a rowdy Geordie crowd.
Blink arrived with a huge bang starting with their older hit Feeling This and switching between older albums and songs from their latest album and tour name California, performing hits such as Sober (my favourite), Built This Pool and She’s Out of Her Mind. Mark, Travis and Matt really put on an insane show and did not dissapoint the crowd.
Check out our short video we recorded whilst there:
NEW SONGS FOR THE SUMMER
2017 so far has definitley impressed us so far in the terms of music. New hits from Seaway, Don Broco, Neck Deep and many more have hit our screens.
With tracks Apartment and Something Wonderful released from their upcoming album Vacation. The tracks give a beachy summer feeling that will make you want to dance like there’s no tomorrow
Also, who doesn’t love cute guys and even cuter dogs in music videos?
Where do we start with these legends. They have not released one bad song ever and Technology just takes things off the bloody scale and the music video adds to how bonkers the four lads are.
(We so haven’t copied of Matt’s style and got those yellow 70s sunglasses) … we so have.
Speaking on Radio 1 Rock Show, Rob Damiani, lead singer of DB said that the song is about the bands hatred of selfies and how 21st century technology are taking over the world.
He said: “We’re all addicted to our phones, so for the video we thought it would be fun to see if an alien invasion was enough for us to put the phones down for a minute – turns out it’s not.”
We see where he is coming from, we don’t go to a restaurant these days without people taking photos of their food. (We’re highly guilty of doing this)
The song is a sweet taster of what is to come on their upcoming album set to be released later this year. We’re hoping it is before their headlining show at Ally Pally in London which we are SO FREAKIN EXCITED FOR!
The lads killed it at SlamDunk and we are even more excited to perform again in November with StateChamps and Counterfeit. BUY TICKETS HERE
With The Peace and the Panic album to be released in just two days time, the guys of Neck Deep have been treating us with pre release songs to give us a sneakpeak at their new album. So far four tracks have been released with In Bloom being released on Sunday during the Radio 1 Rock Show.
The song is slower than their usual tunes but is by far our favourite track on the album so far and we have already started mastering the lyrics by playing on repeat in the car (lolz) over the past 24 hours and feeling like we’re on an episode of Carpoole Karaoke.
Neck Deep are also doing a tour in October (ofcourse we’re going) with As It Is and Real Friends, you can still buy tickets here
