We at SAINT love finding local artists, especially tattoo artists. In April, our Editor will be treating herself to her very first tattoo! Of course we will be videoing the whole experience of her screams and squirming but before she books anywhere, we thought it would be a great idea if we interviewed three of Sunderland’s too tattoo artists and do a bit of a profile on them.
Stacey works at TRIPLESIX STUDIOS in Sunderland and she allowed us to have a quick interview with her. Check it out below!
Tell us about yourself
My name is Stacey Green, I’m 24 years old and from Jarrow. I moved to Sunderland last year to be closer to work.
How long have you been a tattoo artist for?
I’ve been tattooing for around 4 years now
Why did you want to become a tattoo artist? Is their any inspiration?
I worked in a solicitors before I started tattooing, and decided I wanted to be a tattoo artist myself after getting tattooed in a local studio and seeing how fun and interesting their job was compared to mine. I’d never thought of tattooing before that so I suppose I was inspired to tattoo by the artists in the studio.
What would you say your style of tattooing is?
I’d say my style is a mix of dotwork and traditional. Some pieces I do can be quite illustrative too.
Do you have a favourite and least favourite thing that you tattoo?
I like tattooing ornate pieces, and anything floral is always fun. I like working on larger scale pieces too (sleeves, back pieces etc), and seeing them come together.
Have you ever had a strange tattoo request?
The weirdest one I’ve done was a little red Teletubby on a guys bum. He had lost a bet with his friends and they had to choose what he got tattooed.
Here is some of Stacey’s work from her Instagram.
